The
three words that describe me most are opinionated, obsessive, and passionate.
I am argumentative, and can be quite the little pain. But my slogan is
very important to me, as I do not believe in ever settling. I have come
to live with a very different set of standards than the rest of the world,
and have found myself less than popular. But I believe that whether you're
a unique wonder of a person or a ditzy one, being yourself and keeping
your standards is the most important thing in your life. I got into anime
at the age of 12, through way of seeing Sailor Moon dubbed on TV and purchasing
it subtitled. I am a very big fan of shoujo drama, and very much love the
older styled shoujo classics, because of their wonderful emphasis on classical,
moving music, drama, wonderful characterization and elegant, less modern
art style. Some of these favorites include Brother Dear Brother, Glass
Mask, Rose of Versailles, Aim For The Ace, and Attack Number One. I detest
anything with sexual-related comedy. If sex must be present in anime, I
would prefer it to be portrayed dramatically and seriously.
"There
is weeping in my heart, like the rain falling on the city. What is this
langour, that penetrates my heart?" (Written by Paul Verlaine.) I
am devoting my second paragraph to Brother Dear Brother. As with the rest
of my obsessions in life, I am very, very devout to my love for Brother
Dear Brother. While others describe BDB as scary, I envy the complex world
the characters live in. Anyone who knows me is aware of how Asaka Rei (Hana
No Saint-Juste) is my ideal life partner, and how I mirror Mariko in almost
every way, especially her desire for *CLOSE* friendships. If you have not
seen Brother Dear Brother, I beg you to do so. It is a very enthralling,
imaginative world of issues, pain, and originality. But it also the most
beautiful piece of work, film, literary or otherwise, I have ever seen
in my life. In this world, nothing is unheard of, masculine androgynes
attract curious girls, and majestic manipulators use power as a very deadly
weapon. Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful. -
