REVIEW of:
 D4 Princess

D4 Princess      What is a panzer? Basically, panzers are people with special abilities and tools within themselves. One in every ten people is a panzer. Meet Ruridou Doris, typical thirteen-year-old princess—spoiled, rich, and sheltered from everyday activities that we would normally do (like going to the mall or eating snack foods). She is a panzer herself with the power to transform into a power drill outfit, but she isn’t allowed to transform. That is, until she transfers to Teito Academy where her parents say she can transform whenever she wants. Unfortunately, it isn’t cool! How will Doris cope with normal living as an uncool panzer with a drill on her head? D4 Princess is a continous story consisting of 24 short episodes of around 7 minutes each..

Comments   How did I like this? Hmm… Well the opening sequence was really nice—it almost made me think that this was going to be an action-mecha sort of anime. Unfortunately, this series was a real disappointment. The beginning and the ending of the series were pretty interesting, but the middle was just plain boring! The lack of variety of the characters didn’t help the story much either. Not only was the leading character a whiny, spoiled crybaby who can’t fight her way out of a bag, but she accentuates the series of being a pointless sequence of nonsensical plots. I mean the entire thing was just about the daily life of the spoiled rich girl, Doris, trying hard to fit in the role of a normal Jr. High Student while she trains to win some panzer battle (sort of like Pokemon; but at least Pokemon creatures are cute). It does have its comical parts as well as a cutesy ending theme song (Doris dances!), but that doesn’t overshadow the drawn out storyline. Don't get! me wrong, though; this series may be interesting to those people who enjoy this type of series and can handle characters like Doris. But because of the redundant plots, I give it a 4. What can be said about D4 Princess except this is one weird series. Like many of the anime's following this trend, you know, "The 8 minute anime." This trend really works well with this series. Everything about this show is all about speed. The rate at which the things happen is so fast, if you don't pay attention, you're bound to miss something. Some people may think that 8 minutes is just not enough to watch an anime, but this anime uses it real well, just cutting at the most exciting scene. Drawing the viewer into the show more and more. Before you know it, you're singing along to the end song, I'm not the only one, Am I? While this series isn't going to be one of the Most memorable series, it's just one series that everyone has to see.
