Fansubbing anime titles can be darn expensive... not only do we need to purchase the LD/DVDs for the series which we want to sub (and usually we must import these from Japan), but we also must purchase and maintain the equipment used for fansubbing (LD/DVD player, computer, VCRs, genlock, etc.), buy blank VHS and SVHS tapes for master copies, and pay for the translations! Unfortunately, these costs amount to way too much for a poor, jobless, "just graduated college" student like me. Fortunately, sponsorship helps me with the funding of our projects!
Sponsorship is the best way in which you can help us to continue to fansub anime. By sponsoring a project, you pledge (donate) a fixed amount of money which will be used exclusively for the costs associated with the project you choose. These sponsorship funds usually go towards paying the translators, as that turns out to be the biggest cost in fansubbing (once the equipment is acquired). As a thank you gift, you will receive a master copy of the project which you sponsor and your name will be listed in the credits of that project.
We currently offer two sponsorship packages: VHS and SVHS. Here are the details:
| VHS Sponsorship
package: US $35.00 If you sponsor a project for $35, your name will appear in EVERY COPY of that tape which we distribute. You will also receive a VHS master copy of the project which you sponsor. VHS tapes can be played in any regular VCR, as well as SVHS VCRs. |
| SVHS Sponsorship package:
US $40.00 If you sponsor a project for $40, your name will appear in EVERY COPY of that tape which we distribute. You will also receive a SVHS (Super VHS) master copy of the project which you sponsor. SVHS tapes have a higher resolution than VHS (ie. better quality) but can only be played on SVHS VCRs. If you are not sure whether your VCR can play SVHS tapes, it probably CANNOT. The extra $5.00 for SVHS Sponsorship goes towards the extra cost of a SVHS tape vs. a VHS tape. |
